Hermes — The Messenger Cat
(Mascot Character / Rescued Cat Story)
It was an ordinary day when something extraordinary happened.
Beside a roadside drainage ditch, there was a pitch-black hole, wide open.
From deep inside, a faint, fragile cry could be heard.
The first to notice was my dog.
As if to say, “Someone is here,” he stopped in front of the dark hole and gently guided me to it.
🌊 A Rescue from the Darkness
Inside the hole, water was rushing through,
the ground was muddy, and almost no light reached the bottom.
It was a place no ordinary person would ever think to look.
Wearing boots and carrying a flashlight and tools,
I carefully moved forward, crouching in the darkness.
There, soaked and trembling, was a tiny life.
I lifted him into my arms — Hermes.
If I had arrived even a little later, he might not have survived.
In that moment, something inside me quietly turned into light.
🐍 The Trial That Followed
The next day, I took Hermes to the animal hospital.
Unfortunately, his mange (scabies) was overlooked,
and the infection spread — to me, to the other cats, and even to the dogs.
Treatment required time, effort, and money,
but I refused to give up.
With continued care, everyone eventually recovered.
About a week later, I returned to the same place
and found a large snake’s shed skin.
I wondered,
“Was he hiding where the snake once was?”
The thought sent a chill down my spine.
Yet at the same time, the words
“shedding,” “rebirth,” and “renewal”
came quietly to mind.
That moment felt symbolic — as if it marked the beginning of something new.
💫 Hermes — A Cat Who Carries Messages
From the day I rescued him, Hermes became a special presence in my life.
Like Hermes, the messenger god of Greek mythology,
he is a Messenger Cat — a bearer of messages.
Today, Hermes appears throughout my website and creative works
as a symbol of hope, rebirth, and guidance,
bringing comfort and quiet courage to many people.
✨ A Message from Me
No matter how deep the darkness,
light will always find you.
And one day, you may become someone else’s light.
Hermes is not just a rescued cat.
The small life that emerged from the darkness that day
taught me the power of renewal and belief.
He is my true messenger.
